The Story: Fazenda Cachoeira de Grama, owned by the Carvalho Dias family since 1890 and managed by Gabriel de Carvalho Dias, is renowned for its historical significance in Brazil's coffee production. Located in the picturesque Vale de Grama, near the Mogiana region and the Minas Gerais state line, this 411-hectare farm, with about 100 hectares dedicated to coffee, blends the mountainous terrains of Mogiana and Sul de Minas. It employs traditional methods for coffee cultivation and harvest due to its challenging topography, emphasizing social and environmental sustainability. The farm, which is part of Brazil's elite coffee-producing areas, utilizes both Pulped Natural and Natural post-harvest processing to achieve a distinct nutty creaminess in its coffee. The farm supports its community with 47 houses for employees, a school funded jointly by the Brazilian government and local farmers, a club, and a soccer field, alongside a hydroelectric plant for energy self-sufficiency. Brazil's role as a leading coffee producer, accounting for a significant portion of the world's supply since the 19th century, is underscored by the rich history and innovative practices of farms like Fazenda Cachoeira de Grama.
